Will those steps lead us to our eternal goal or all will we forsake
Do we pay attention to were they are leading or carelessly follow the way
Are they steps that we can follow with pride feeling the joy they bring
Or later will we be ashamed and wish we were able to change
The steps we choose to follow are also the steps we use to lead
It is not just our life we are affecting by the footsteps in which we tread
There are others behind us watching, waiting, and trying to decide
On the steps that they will follow on the life they will lead
Maybe a brother, a sister, a neighbor or a friend
We never know whose steps we influence with the steps we began
Whose footsteps do we follow, whose life do we try to emulate
